Avoiding heavy metals and detoxing can help you achieve your best health. Heavy metals are the leading cause for many of the serious health conditions we face today. Pseudoscientist and author Anthony William focuses on this concept in his New York Times Bestseller book Medical Medium. William states, “There’s almost nothing better you can do for your health than to get heavy metals out of your body.”
What are these metals & where do they come from??
Metals such as mercury, aluminum, copper, lead, nickel, and cadmium are the leaders in poisons circulating through our environment. These substances are released through things like pharmaceuticals, chemicals sprayed on manufactured good, pesticides, plastics, industrial cleaners, and the list goes on. Never before in history have we been exposed to as many harmful substances as we are today.
How do these metals affect our health?
These toxins directly affect our bodies, harming our brains, our livers, and our central nervous system. They are also weakening our immune system and leaving us extra vulnerable to illnesses. William goes on to explain that not only are these substances harming our bodies, but to make matters worse, they are “attracting and feeding” things like cancers, viruses and bacteria.
The Ultimate Villain
William believes that the worst of these poisonous substances is mercury. Flying under the radar throughout most of history, mercury has harmed millions and millions of people. Although acknowledged harmful in the 19th century, it wasn’t until the mid 1900s that people started to truly see the harmful reactions of mercury.
Due the Industrial Revolution, mercury and other poisonous substances are still making their way into our rivers, lakes and streams. This contaminates much of our food but most prominently, our seafood. William urges his clients and readers to stay clear of large oily fish like tuna, swordfish and shark, and to choose smaller fish such as sardines, mackerel and wild salmon.
William sees a correlation between mercury and a vast number of conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder, neurological disorders etc. He also claims that mercury is not only a “top fuel” for cancers, viruses, and bacteria, but is also 100 percent responsible for Alzheimer’s Disease.
How do we protect ourselves?
As stated in Medical Medium, “Mercury never goes away – unless you take specific steps to detoxify it. It gets passed on from generation to generation, for centuries.” This really has you stop and think about illness, and diseases that have been “passed down” in our own families. Are they genetic? Or, are we passing excessive amounts of mercury and other toxins down through our genetic line that are “attracting and feeding” these illnesses. Something to think about…
