I’ve been wanting to share my honest experience and opinion about the VersaClimber for ages now.
I hope to answer any questions you might have about the VersaClimber and to give you a little insight behind what goes into one of the “funnest” classes I’ve ever had the pleasure of teaching!
I’ve taught hundreds of group and private classes on the Megaformer and have been taking classes for several years, so I’m no stranger to group fitness. When Chris, the owner and founder of Studio Physique, hinted that the studio was getting a brand new machine called the VersaClimber, I was pumped! To be honest, I had never heard of this machine before. But as a self-proclaimed endorphin junkie, I couldn’t wait to hop on and get sweaty.
The VersaClimber is an upright cardio machine, but unlike a stationary bike or elliptical, it requires the use of your entire body. That’s why a typical 25 minute workout on the VersaClimber burns 2x as many calories as any other form of cardio. Every time I teach or take a class I am absolutely floored at how many calories this machine seems to burn. I love how low impact it is, meaning theres no pounding on the knees or joints. Expect a total body strength and conditioning workout performed to an amazing playlist.

I was blown away by how intense the first class was. Our bodies don’t typically move in a “contra-lateral” motion like the kind of movement we perform on the VersaClimber, so it took a few minutes to find my groove. Right from the start I loved how much I could feel my glutes and core working to push and pull the machine.
And on top of everything, it was so FUN! The music and the energy of the instructor and my fellow climbers was incredible. The time flew by and before you knew it, it was over.
I also loved how I was able to go at my own pace. Not going to lie, during my first class the VersaClimber absolutely humbled me. At one point I had to completely stop moving because I was so out of breath! Each climber controls their own resistance and pace so it was excellent for a beginner like me or for those who want to set their own goals during the climb.
The VersaClimber has quickly become one of my favorite cardio machines. I’ve put tons of hours into making my routines, practicing my classes, creating my playlists and into finding my voice on the microphone.
I love incorporating a combination of Hip-Hop and high intensity EDM for our fast sprints. My classes are beat-based, meaning we climb to the beat of the music. I love it because it feels like we’re at a club or dancing. My fellow instructor Kaleigh comes from a sports background and she will push you to your limit with her interval-training and endurance drills. Stacey has years of experience as a personal trainer so her classes are guaranteed to transform your body and mind. Every instructor at Studio Physique teaches a little bit different, so I recommend giving us all a try.
Some people might get frustrated because it’s a little more demanding than anything else out there, but you WILL get better. Your body will get more efficient with the movement. You won’t be as cognitive and tense because you know what’s coming, and there’s a lot of room for progressing. And that’s where the magic happens :).
This machine is definitely worth checking out. Stop by Studio Physique and use code SPSpecial15 for a free intro class.
