The summer season is a beautiful reminder to set aside time for fun and relaxation. On the contrary, it can also be an intense time of the year where our schedules are jam-packed full of holidays and events. Whether you are just starting your fitness goals or have been working hard year-round, Studio Physique’s trainers want to share their favorite fitness tips. Maintaining your fitness this summer doesn’t have to be complicated.
This is probably the simplest yet most overlooked goal you can set for yourself this summer. We suggest carrying around a reusable water bottle and refilling it every hour or so. Your skin will glow, your dark circles will disappear and your digestion will improve. Bye-Bye bloat! Water bottle needs an upgrade or sick of plastic bottled water? Pick up a new, locally-designed, Luxe water bottle the next time you take class at SP.

Trust us, we love a good candy bar every now and then. But this summer, we are vowing to indulge our sweet tooth in a more natural way. And that’s with nature’s candy: fruit! Fruits that are in season are usually more nutrient-dense, fresher, tastier and more flavorful. Watermelons, pineapples and berries likes strawberries and blueberries are all great summer options.
With a little more time for some fun in the sun, summer can be the perfect time to experiment with new forms of exercise. Try waking up thirty minutes early and taking a walk outside. If you haven’t tried the Lagree Method at Studio Physique we urge you to come give us a try. If you already know and love working out on the Megaformer, stay tuned for our brand new cardio classes featuring the low-impact VersaClimber, coming soon to our Studio.

This goal has less to do with summer fitness and more to do with your health. Don’t forget the sunscreen this summer, even if you are only stepping outside for a few minutes, protect those beautiful faces! We found that adding sunscreen to our daily skincare routine was the easiest way to remember. Our favorite’s include Supergoop, Neova Damage Control and EltaMD Sun Care.
They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothin’! Getting an adequate amount of sleep is vital for muscle growth and recovery, not to mention mental health. Do your body a favor and get to bed in time to allow for at least a full eight hours of sleep. We promise your favorite HBO show will still be waiting for you tomorrow.
We love a good restorative, relaxing stretch especially during the summer months when our muscles are usually pliable and warm. You can try stretching at home after you wake up or before you go to sleep. If you take a Megaformer class at Studio Physique you can be sure your hip flexors, quads, shoulders and abdominals will be toned and stretched at the same time. Win-Win!
Indulging in a drink or two at a BBQ or after a sweaty day at the beach won’t ruin your “Fit Summer”! Enjoy alcohol in moderation and as a rule of thumb, stick to lighter colored liquor and diet mixers. We love this Skinny Margarita Recipe from Cookie and Katie. However, always keep in mind that hangovers not only keep you out of the gym, but can mess with nutrient absorption and throw your hormones out of wack too. Try carrying a water bottle with you to the bar and refilling it between every drink.
Use The Gulf to your advantage this summer! Next time you’re enjoying a relaxing beach day, pack a pair of your comfiest walking shoes and go for a brisk, hour-long walk. The steady-state cardio will put you into fat burning mode and you’ll still get to enjoy the sunshine and salty air. Not a fan of walking on the beach? Take a dive into the ocean and see how long you can tread water. Swimming is another amazing full body, low impact workout we enjoy all year long in Florida and especially in the summer.
Or you can copy Kyler Max (below) and just bring a Megaformer to the beach! 😉
